Hastings Programs with Grande Lum and John Lande on October 14 and 28

From SFOI Sheila Purcell

Dear Colleagues,

We hope this finds you well at this unusual time. I write from (smoky!) Northern California to invite you to:

New Frontiers in ADR

A virtual “lunch and learn” Speaker Series!

Mark your calendar and register for these two, free events, which will take place at noon Pacific, 1 Mountain, 2 Central, and 3 Eastern Time.

OCTOBER 14: GRANDE LUM

WORKING ON COMMUNITY-WIDE RECONCILIATION

Meet the co-author of “America’s Peacemakers”, Grande Lum, Provost of Menlo College and former Director of CNDR. This book tells the story of a federal agency within the Department of Justice that assists and mediates in communities as they reconcile and recover from discrimination, hate crimes, and unrest based on issues like race and religion.

OCTOBER 28: JOHN LANDE

HOW TO COMBINE “POSITIONAL” AND “INTEREST-BASED” NEGOTIATION AND “FACILITATIVE” AND “EVALUATIVE” MEDIATION

Professor John Lande will discuss how to go beyond traditional labels, and explore using techniques from both positional and interest based models of risk assessment in complementary ways. Based on his new book, “Litigation Interest and Risk Assessment: Help Your Clients Make Good Litigation Decisions.”
