St. John’s Carey Center Award Ceremony on April 19, 2023

From Elayne Greenberg:

Please join us online as we present the St. John’s University School of Law Carey Center’s 2023 Dispute Resolution Advancement Award to Professors Jessica Bregant, Jennifer K. Robbennolt, and Verity Winship.  They  will discuss the award-winning research reported in their Harvard Negotiation Law Review article, “Perceptions of Settlement.”  Read more about this year’s award winners.

Starting with the premise that little is known about how people in the United States perceive settlement, the scholars investigated and compared public perceptions of settlement with perceptions of other case outcomes, such as a jury verdict or the filing of a legal case.  The fielded data suggest that lay people attribute responsibility to settling defendants.  The scholars will share other details of their ongoing study as well.

Given annually, this $5000 Award honors scholars and practitioners whose published empirical research has furthered the advancement and understanding of the values and skills of dispute resolution.

The awards will be given at a virtual ceremony on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at 1 p.m. EST.
