Send Your Resources for the ABA LEC Resource Share

From SFOI Sharon Press:

Greetings everyone!

The Legal Educators’ Colloquium and the Legal Educators’ Resource Share at the ABA Section of Dispute Resolution Conference in New Orleans is less than 7 weeks away so it is time to send in what you want to share.

This year’s event will take place on Friday, April 24 from 4:30 pm – 5:45 pm.  Room TBD

For those of you who have never been to the Resource Share, Bobbi McAdoo and I started it to give another opportunity to legal educators to share their best ideas about resources being used to liven up their DR classes.  We are always impressed with the generosity of folks who help all of us on the listserv, so we think of this as an “in-person listserv,” with the added opportunity for attendees to follow-up with colleagues in real time.  This year, Bobbi can’t join me so it will just be me (and whomever I draft to assist 😊)

Here’s what goes on: legal educators (you all!) describe, in just a minute or two, a helpful resource you use in your classes – a website, simulation, TED talk, other specific podcasts, etc.  The description includes where/how to find the resource and how to use it/debrief it, etc., in your ADR-related classes. The short time allotment means a lot of great information from 30-40 people is gathered in a very short time.  And we put the information on a flip chart to save for later collating and posting.

In the last couple of years, many of you sent the information you planned to share ahead of time to us, and that enabled us to provide some structure to the session, i.e., some grouping of similar resource categories.  So, we encourage you to do this again.  Please email the information you plan to share directly to me by Friday, April 3 and we will plan accordingly.   In fact, just send it right NOW!

Here’s a form for you to use to make it easier for you to submit your resources.

You also are encouraged to bring half page handouts to distribute at the Resource Share describing your teaching resource/tool if this is appropriate.   I collate all the information after the conference and post it to the legal educators’ listserv so everyone can reap the benefits of this session. (In fact, we have produced a running tally of all the years’ Resource Share suggestions for folks who are new to this.)

Thanks in advance for your support… I look forward to seeing you in New Orleans soon!

Best regards, Sharon
