From Sarah Cole:
The Santa Clara School of Law Conflict Resolution Program and the Stanford Law School Gould Negotiation and Mediation Program will jointly sponsor a program on AI and Negotiation: The New Frontier of Dispute Resolution on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 4:30–6:00 pm PST, with in-person options at Santa Clara Law and Stanford Law School, as well as remote attendance via Zoom.
This program will bring together leading scholars and practitioners to explore how AI is already influencing negotiation, mediation, and dispute system design, and what those changes mean for the future role of lawyers, mediators, and legal institutions. The event offers a timely opportunity for ADR scholars to engage with emerging practices, ethical questions, and pedagogical innovations at the intersection of technology and conflict resolution.
The discussion will feature Professor Sarah Rudolph Cole (Michael E. Moritz Chair in Alternative Dispute Resolution, Ohio State University), a nationally recognized authority on ADR; Colin Rule (CEO of odr.com/Mediate.com), a pioneer in online dispute resolution with decades of experience shaping technology-enabled systems; and Dr. Megan Ma (Executive Director of the Stanford Legal Innovation through Frontier Technology Lab), whose work focuses on generative AI, human–machine collaboration, and the future of legal education and practice. Together, the speakers will examine how AI tools are being used (and resisted) in negotiation and mediation practice, how technology is redefining the role of human neutrals, and how AI-driven simulations may transform how we train the next generation of lawyers.
Registration is required to attend the event virtually. You can register here. A Zoom link will be sent to you upon registering.
