Upcoming ABA DR Section Events For Students and Others

From BFOI Linda Seely on behalf of Kanika S. Singh, ABA Dispute Resolution Section Student Liaison:

Here are some upcoming events to let your students know about (and consider attending yourself):

(1) Campus Events / Visits:

Please take advantage of your ABA DR section resources such as your student liaison (me), staff, and section volunteers!!

In my role as the Section’s Law Student liaison, I recently did a virtual ‘fly-in’ to Peter Halprin’s International Arbitration class at The Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. This was a 30-45 second plug for students to join the ABA as members, spotlight the section, and share upcoming events. Linda is scheduled to speak to Bill Froelich’s class at OSU’s Moritz College of Law next week regarding our recent Tech Expo.

Please let me know if you are interested in the same for any of your courses. If you are open to customized programming for your courses we can arrange to have me, section members, or ABA representatives (depending on their availability) join in. Please also share your upcoming DR specific events, and if permitted, I would love to attend to represent the section.

(2) Upcoming Events:

– THIS WEDNESDAY 9/23 at 9pm EST: Ready, Set, Pivot. This free program will connect students and ADR practitioners to discuss how to successfully ‘pivot!’ in an ADR career. This is a quarterly initiative to foster a greater community of DR students and professionals and provide a ‘home’ for DR students where they can learn, share, engage, and contribute. – 10/8: Ombuds Day. On Thursday, October 8, 2020, the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Dispute Resolution Section Ombuds Committee invites you to the 3rd annual celebration of a profession that has existed for centuries yet remains relatively unknown: the ombuds. Register HERE. – 10/19-10/23: Mediation Week: To celebrate Mediation’s Role in Ensuring Equal Access to Justice. More to follow, please mark your calendars and stay tuned.
