OSU’s JDR to focus on intersection of ADR and Gender-Based Violence at Nov. 13 Symposium

The Ohio State Journal on Dispute Resolution is hosting a virtual symposium titled, A Conversation on the Role of ADR in Resolving Issues of Gender-Based Violence. The event will take place on Friday, November 13 between 10 am and 4 pm,. The event is free, and will offer free CLE credits for Ohio attorneys. Register using this link!

Given the increased consciousness about issues of gender-based violence thanks to the Time’s Up and #metoo movements, coupled with the increasing proliferation of Alternative Dispute Resolution, the symposium will explore relevant and crucial themes. JDR is thrilled to host two dynamic panels and a keynote speaker.

The morning panel, which will run from 10:30 am until 12 pm Eastern time is titled Resolving Gender-Based Violence Disputes on Campus. This panel will be moderated by Leigh Goodmark from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. The impressive panelists include Sarah Rudolph Cole, from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law; Brian Pappas, from Eastern Michigan University; Jennifer Llewellyn, from Dalhousie University Schulich School of Law; Daniel Del Gobbo, from University of Toronto Faculty of Law; and Kellie Brennan, from University of California, Berkeley.

After a break for lunch, our incredible Keynote Speaker, Mariame Kaba, will present from 1 to 2 pm.

The afternoon panel, moderated by Amy Cohen, from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, will discuss the question, Can ADR Change the Response to Gender-Based Violence? Panelists Kelly Browe-Olson, from University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law; Julie Goldscheid, from CUNY School of Law; Charisa Smith, also from CUNY; and Donna Coker, from the University of Miami School of Law will share their expertise.
