This year’s winning paper for the ABA Section of Dispute Resolution’s James B. Boskey Law Student Essay Contest on Dispute Resolution is “Casting a Wide Net over Consent – Expansion of Estoppel Doctrines to International Arbitration Agreements, Non-Signatories, and Third Parties,” by Olivia Stitz (Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, Arizona State University).

Ms. Stitz’s paper will be posted online by the ABA, and the author will receive a $1,000 prize.

The Section also thanks the many judges who helped judge all of the student entries: Robert Ackerman, Erin Archerd, Henry Blair, Kristen Blankley, Patrick Chapin, Carli Conklin, Ben Davis, Robin Davis, Ellen Deason, Noam Ebner, Donna Erez-Navot, Brian Farkas, Clark Freshman, Cynthia Hawkins, Art Hinshaw, Becky Jacobs, Robert Jerry, Heather Kulp, John Lande, Katrina Lee, Vicki Limas, Andrew Mamo, Carrie Menkel-Meadow, Michael Moffitt, Lauren Newell, Jacqueline Nolan-Haley, Kelly Browe Olson, Charles Pillsbury, Andrea Schneider, Carrie (Shu) Shang, James Stark, Jean Sternlight, Rachel Viscomi, Stephen Ware, and Maureen Weston.

Prof. Reilly, who skillfully organized and ran the competition, also wants to thank Gina Brown and Linda Seely from the ABA, whose advice and guidance help to make this a successful event. As many of you know, the competition is named in memory of James B. Boskey, an intellectual, humanitarian, Seton Hall University law professor, and mediator. The purpose of the competition is to create greater interest in the field of dispute resolution among J.D. students nationwide—particularly the Law Student Division of the American Bar Association.

CONGRATULATIONS to Olivia Stitz!
