NOMINATIONS DUE TOMORROW MARCH 1

As outgoing (or gone) Chair of the AALS Section on Alternative Dispute Resolution, I am pleased to announce on behalf of the Section’s Executive Committee the creation and launch of the Section’s annual award for best scholarly article published in print or online in the previous year in the field of ADR.  Details and a Call for Nominations follow:

Request for Nominations – AALS Alternative Dispute Resolution Section, Best Article of 2017

The AALS Section on Alternative Dispute Resolution is seeking nominations for the inaugural Section Award for best article published in print or online in the previous year in the field of ADR. To be eligible, the article must be already published in a law review or other academic journal bearing a 2017 volume date, or accepted for publication in a volume that will bear a 2017 volume date. Works-in-progress not yet accepted for publication or those accepted for publication in a 2018 volume or later are not eligible. Books and book chapters are not eligible.

The Section’s 2018 Executive Committee will consider several criteria in selecting the winner, including:

  • The relevance of the work to the field of dispute resolution;
  • The degree of contribution of the work to the field of dispute resolution;
  • The originality and quality of the research reflected in the work; and
  • The quality and clarity of the writing.

Nominations/submissions should be sent electronically in Microsoft Word or PDF Format to Professor Jill Gross, at jgross@law.pace.edu by March 1, 2018 (8:00 p.m. EST). In the subject line, please write: “AALS ADR Section 2017 Article Nomination.” Authors may nominate/submit their own articles; co-authored articles are welcome, too. Articles authored by the leadership of the Section are eligible for nomination, but that author will no longer be eligible to judge. If you have any questions, please contact Jill Gross at the e-mail address listed above.

The winning article will be announced by the end of the 2018 spring semester. We look forward to hearing from you!
