I am passing along an announcement from the ABA Section of Dispute Resolution regarding its inaugural Young Scholar Program, which will sponsor young professionals interested in ADR who want to attend the Section’s April 2018 annual spring conference, this year in Washington DC. According to the Section’s Director, the Section will “invite him/her to serve as a reporter within the conference by attending one of our workshops during the conference, meeting with the workshop panelists and attendees, and reporting on the workshop by posting to our conference app his/her impressions from both the panelists and the attendees, photos of the workshop and his/her thoughts about the workshop.”

The ABA Section of Dispute Resolution is inviting applications for our inaugural Young Scholar Program at the 25th Anniversary year and 20th Anniversary 2018 Spring Conference in Washington DC, April 4-7, 2018.
Scholars who are selected will receive:
• $50 registration to the Conference (a value of up to $325).
• Opportunity to interact with panelists, including leaders in the profession, which could lead to lasting professional relationships.
• Opportunity to publish during the conference.
Each scholar will be assigned to one session at the Conference. The Scholar will have an opportunity to interact with the panel prior to the conference, and will provide logistical assistance as needed. Each Scholar is required to write a summary of 250-300 words after the session. The summary will be posted, along with the Scholar’s name and organization, on the conference app and website.

Location: Washington Hilton, Washington, DC
Eligibility: Attorneys with less than five (5) years’ experience who are members of either the ABA Young Lawyers Division or the ABA Section of Dispute Resolution’s Young Lawyers Committee, and students at an ABA accredited law school who are members of the ABA Law Student Division.

After this date, if accepted to the program, the candidate will be contacted with their assigned session and instructions for how to register for the conference at the $50 rate.
