Honoring Andrea Schneider at the ABA Dr conference in verse and song

IMG_0053Last week at the ABA DR Annual meeting, Professor Andrea Schneider received the ABA award for Outstanding Scholarly Work. She gave an excellent speech at the LEC luncheon and I’m hoping she will share it on the blog.

I solicited some creativity here several posts ago for her Friday night gathering. Natalie Fleury stole the show with her amazing voice and personalized version of One Singular Sensation. If you missed it, you should be sad. Perhaps she will share the lyrics. The rest of us who had to follow her with poetry had a hard time.

These are the work of Jill Gross, Tim Hedeen, Art Hinshaw and me. I’m not pointing out specific ownership, but  feel free to take credit for your individual creations.

Haikus

Haikus need not rhyme
But Andrea Schneider’s work
is good all the time.

Andrea teaches
Writes, parents, drinks, smiles and laughs
In cold Milwaukee

Scholar who went on
Double date with Brooke Shields laughs
Now I’m famous too

Limericks and more

There once was a prof at Marquette,
Whose scholarship you should go get,
Books on bargaining moves,
or French museums (not the Louvre!),
Her oeuvre deserves this big fete.

There once was a scholar named Schneider
Who did publish all things ADR
Negotiate! she screamed
Or else you’ll be deemed
To write me a Fieldbook chapter

Trained at Princeton, Harvard, Marquette
She did research, write and edit
She’s friendly and able
To drink you under the table
But the day after is filled with regret.

A scholar of collaboration,
Andrea’s taught us about negotiation…
from mortgages to the Mideast,
her students’ learning has never ceased.

In today’s event I cannot not join,
for my dean wouldn’t spend the big coin,
I’ll have to go re-read Schneider’s book,
to get my school back on the hook!
