Marya’s lecture will apply negotiation theory to practice and illustrate how negotiators can pair negotiation methods with personal conflict behavior. Her aptly titled presentation Principles in Practice: Finding your Effective Negotiation Style, will leverage decades of experience as a negotiator and mediator to highlight effective and ineffective negotiation styles.

Every fall Moritz hosts the Lawrence Lecture along with the intramural Lawnrece Negotiation Competition, named for Moritz alum and Moritz and Unviersity of Cincinnati negotiation professor James K.L. Lawrence. Jim has given generously of his time, talent, guidance and resources to Moritz and our Program on Dispute Resolution over the years, so it is perfectly fitting that this expanded educational enterprise with Negotiation at its core be conducted in his name.

We have been the fortunate beneficiaries of Marya’s wisdom on negotiations and mediations over the years as she has taught in our Negotiations course and been the long-time coach, with her partner, Dottie Painter, of our many Representation in Mediation Competition Teams, including two different teams who finished second in the national competition.
