Cross Cultural Lawyering at its Best

I am delighted to share the New York Times Saturday profile of one of my former students, Kim Motley, doing amazing work in Afghanistan.  She is one of the only U.S. lawyers practicing there and has taken some incredible cases to the Afghan courts, representing victims of domestic violence, kidnap victims, and other women.  In this article (and the documentaries on her work) she has talked about the cultural navigation she has managed between the law, the Afghan culture, and rights of the women.  Although not discussed in this article, she has also used her skills to negotiate the return of children in custody battles.  Truly inspirational!
