Forbes recently published an interesting, and discouraging read, on the challenges that women face in Silicon Valley.  See here

The author (it is written anonymously) draws a picture of an environment where she regularly has to deal with inappropriate comments and advances but because she is seeking funding from these same folks for her company, it is not a situation where she has any simple recourse.  It is not written up as a negotiator’s dilemma, but clearly it is as the author often wants funding from these same men for her company, regardless of their behavior.

What is most discouraging to me, although not surprising, is that the only offenders are not older men, but includes men in their twenties.  As we all know, gender discrimination is not a generational problem that will just die out in twenty years….but it is still discouraging to read such a stark account of how the problem impacts one key industry.
