Southwest Jr. Clinicians Conference – March 16, 2012 at Arizona State

I know this is an ADR board, but ADR programs have clinics too.  If you know any clinicians (or non-clinicians) who might be interested our upcoming program, please forward the announcement for the Southwest Jr. Clinicians Conference below.

Have you been a clinician for less than ten years?

If so come and join us at the Southwest Junior Clinicians Conference is set for March 16, 2012 at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University.  And, it’s free !  The one day event promises a great day of career development and networking.  On the programming front, we are excited to announce two wonderful keynote speakers – Charles D. Weisselberg (UC-Berkeley) and Antionette Sedillo-Lopez (New Mexico).  Plus, we have many interesting break-out sessions tailored to the needs of newer clinicians with speakers from Arizona State, DePaul, Quinnipiac, University of Arizona, University of Illinois, UNLV, UND, and elsewhere.  (As you can see, our definition of “Southwest” is quite broad.  All are welcome!)  Among other things, conference topics include:

  • Best practices and the future of clinical legal education
  • Dealing with difficult students and situations
  • Exploring the role of ideological objectives in immigration (and other) clinics
  • Historical Perspective of Clinics (and Faculty who teach in them) in the Academy
  • Integrating community education, legislative advocacy and policy-making
  • Pedagogical and practical choices while (re)structuring a clinic
