Just a reminder that nominations for the various awards to be handed out at the ABA Dispute Resolution Section meetings are due soon. The awards are the D’Alemberte-Raven Award, for outstanding service in dispute resolution, the Lawyer as Problem-Solver Award, which recognizes individuals and organizations that use problem solving skills to forge creative solutions, and the Award for Outstanding Scholarly Work, which is described in detail below. Award for Outstanding Scholarly Work
CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
The ABA Section of Dispute Resolution Award for Outstanding Scholarly Work honors individuals whose scholarship has significantly contributed to the dispute resolution field.
Award Criteria
Nominations should address one or more of the following:
- Nominee has authored a scholarly publication or a body of work exhibiting excellence in research, writing, analysis.
- Nominee has introduced new concepts in dispute resolution.
- Nominee has embodied “scholarship in action” for a collective body of work that brings theory to practice in developing (for example) laws, uniform acts, codes of conduct, protocols, competitions, or new programs and services over a sustained period of time.
Deadline
The deadline for nominations is October 14, 2011.
Award Committee
Past Section of Dispute Resolution Chair Lela P. Love and former Chair of the ABA Standing Committee on Dispute Resolution (the Section’s predecessor) Nancy Rogers are the Outstanding Scholarly Work Award committee co-chairs for 2011–2012.
Presentation of Award
The award will be presented at the Legal Educators Colloquium on April 21, 2012 during the Section of Dispute Resolution Spring Conference in Washington, DC.
